We'd like to give Lisa L Hannett our hugest congratulations on winning not one, but two Aurealis Awards at the ceremony in Sydney last night.
We were absolutely ecstatic when Lisa's fantastic debut collection, Bluegrass Symphony, was announced by Cat Sparks as the winner of Best Collected Work.
We were then completely euphoric when Lisa's story, "The Short Go: A Future in Eight Seconds", from Bluegrass Symphony tied with Paul Haines' "The Past is a Bridge Left Burnt" for the Best Horror Short Story Award, with the award presented by the wonderful Kirstyn McDermott.
We've obviously felt for some time that Lisa L Hannett is an amazing talent, and her collection a stunning work, full of outstanding stories. We're incredibly proud of this book, and would sincerely like to thank Lisa for trusting us with her unique creative vision, and offer our congratulations on her success.
And while we're in the mood for revealing things, we're extremely pleased to be able to unveil the cover for Cat Spark's collection The Bride Price.
The artwork for this collection, to be published in April 2013, is also a Cat Sparks masterpiece.
We're pleased to reveal the cover to the forthcoming anthology Blood Stones, edited by Amanda Pillar.
The anthology, the first in an annual series, will focus on non-traditional urban fantasy.
Submissions close 15 May 2012. For more information please see our Guidelines.
Blood Stones will be released in October 2012.
We're awfully pleased to hear that Lisa L Hannett's debut collection, Bluegrass Symphony, has made the shortlist of 9 titles for the Norma K Hemming Award.
Congratulations Lisa, and we wish you the best success in this. We think it's a fantastic collection.
The Norma K Hemming Award recognises excellence in the exploration of themes of race, gender, sexuality, class and disability in Australian SF, and will be awarded in early June.
We've started a twitter account, @TiconderogaP
It's early days, so we'd love for you to come over and suggest folks to follow, and we'd love it if you'd follow us.
When we reach 100 followers, we'll give away a copy of Lisa L Hannett's Aurealis Award-nominated Bluegrass Symphony to one lucky, random follower.
So please, come check us out. We've got a bigger surprise for when we get 250 followers.
EDIT: We missed a couple of stories.
We've quickly scanned Ellen Datlow's 608 Honourable Mentions for 2011 and the following stand out:
Congratulations to all of our writers!
(Not too shabby, I calculate this as almost 3.5% of her list!)
