These things happen sometimes. You get two editors, one publisher, two titles being released and launched simultaneously. Things get competitive.

The amazing Liz G, editor of the superlative Scary Kisses, and I have a bet going.

If Scary Kisses sells more copies than Belong before the end of SwanCon, 5 April, Liz has to edit a sequel volume within the next 18 months.

If Belong sells more copies than Scary Kisses during this timeframe, I have to edit an anthology of Australian-themed vampire stories in the next 18 months.

And if it’s a tie, we both have to do our respective books. (Note: copies bought by the respective contributors to Scary Kisses and Belong don’t get counted, as there are 23 in Belong and 15 in Scary Kisses.)

At 370 pages, it’s our largest book to date.

Got the cover concept from the design workshop on the weekend.

While there’s still some to-ing and fro-ing, fine tuning, letterbox bars, maybe some font tweaking, and inserting the tag “How far would you go to belong?” I think it’s looking good.
